Jędrzej Rochecki
composer, sound engineer, violinist, music theorist
b. 29th October 1988 in Toruń
Jędrzej Rochecki began his music education at the age of six at the Karol Szymanowski Music School in Toruń. In the years 2007-2010, he studied three faculties - Theory of music, Sound engineering and Composition (with professor Marek Jasiński at first, then with Prof Zbigniew Bargielski) at the Felix Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. Currently, he is pursuing the M.Mus. degree in Composition at the Felix Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz (in Prof Marian Borkowski’s composition class) and simultaneously M.Mus. degree in Film & TV Sound Engineering at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He is also participating in the Inter-University Multimedia Program (http://medialarts.pl).
Jędrzej Rochecki received several prizes in composition competitions, including the 1st prize at the Marian Gordiejuk Composition Contest and the 2nd prize at the Academic Composer Competition for “Concerto grosso” in Bydgoszcz, the audience award for video-art “Upstream” at the Sound Screen Festival (Bydgoszcz). During his studies he has received a scholarship for high results in learning.
In 2010, he was involved in the international project FABREC which was a cooperation between the F. Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, Universitatea de Arta şi Design (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) and Université de Toulouse Le Mirail (Touluse, France).
Thanks to financial support from the Polish Institute of Music and Dance at the season 2012/2013 he will perform a function of a composer-in-residence in the Torun Symphony Orchestra (Toruń, Poland).
His music has been presented at many events in Poland and abroad. He has also performed as violinist and sound engineer at many concerts of contemporary music.
Moreover, in his work, he uses possibilities of electronic media, visual arts, sound design, etc. He cooperates with other artists in many fields, for example he creates soundtracks for animations, video-arts, installation arts, exhibitions, movies, etc.
